Reading Assistant software uses speech recognition technology to “listen” to a student as he or she reads aloud, monitoring for signs of difficulty. When the student is challenged by a word, the program assists the student in reading the word correctly. The ability to record and play back recordings of their reading in private means that students can hear how their reading has improved over time.
Reading Assistant software teaches vocabulary and fluency as foundational skills for increased comprehension. Reading comprehension is ensured by open book, true/false, multiple choice, and multiple response questions for each passage. Students quickly learn to focus their attention on meaning so that they can answer these questions.
Reading content is available in two collections to meet the needs of students from levels 1-11. Drawing heavily from authentic literature and non fiction informational texts, the content is both engaging and informative.
